CROSSROADS 1961 - OUR PLEDGE

As the first graduating class to begin as sophomores in the new Wilbur Cross High School, we leave our school with mixed emotions and a pledge for the future.  The past: we will always remember these past three years.  The mere mention of our school or of the times we have shared let open a floodgate of the trials, the joys, the memories that hold the key to our hearts and to this book.

The present: yes we are seniors.  We are filled with excitement and hurry, for there are many things we must accomplish.  We are driven by the thought that these might be left undone.  We must perfect our plan.  This plan, which the class of 1961 has been forming, must be filled with all the priceless gems and glories that will remain long after high schools paths have parted.

The future:  it is here, to the unknown and frightening future, that our thoughts turn.  With all the fear in our hearts that comes when facing uncertainty, we make a pledge to our school.  Let this yearbook stand as a symbol of this pledge.  We pledge loyalty to our school and its standards.  We will accept the responsibility of citizenship in our community and strive to be an aid to our fellowman, so that the class of 1961 will always be remembered for its fervor in working toward the ideals instilled by its Alma Mater.
